Nanook is Off to See the World!
Nanook is a cute little Siberian husky dog, one of the Ty Beanie Babies that were so popular a few years ago. Born in 1996, Nanook is now retired and can start doing some serious travelling. He arrived in Skagway after a long trip from Daytona Beach, Florida today, and will be with me on all of my travels from now on. Here are some photos of his first day 🙂
Nanook’s arrival in Skagway was first class and well padded – and perhaps no more crowded than some economy airlines!

Nanook’s first tour of northern British Columbia, on the dash of my car heading north on the Klondike Highway.

Welcome to the Yukon, little guy! A perfect home for a retired husky to be based 🙂

My history with Nanook’s siblings goes back to 1998, when I ran an auction for the Yukon Quest sled dog race. Each musher carried a Nanook, and the 29 toy huskies raised a total of $11,000! There were a total of 1,000 Yukon Quest Nanooks ordered – see this page for an explanation.
I had a Nanook that travelled with me a few years ago, but he was stolen on a cruise ship we were on in 2006, and I’ve been without one until today. I feel much better now 🙂
[Edit: Nanook now has his own web page at our Everything Husky! site – see “Nanook Explores the World>“.]
