Full Moon Rising

Last night was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, and with the all-night-driving jobs I’ve had over the years, I’ve seen some amazing ones. This photo (click to enlarge it) was taken as the moon rose over Nares Mountain at Carcross. Although I’m not a Christian, I love the imagery, and have a few shots of this sort in my collection.

Driving to Whitehorse at 9:30 last night, it was so bright that I could have driven without headlights. I stopped at the Emerald Lake viewpoint and got out for a few minutes – unfortunately I hadn’t taken my tripod with me, so couldn’t get a photo of the scene. Maybe the conditions will be similar tonight (the full moon is tonight) and I’ll try again. Those of you who live surrounded by city lights should treat yourself tonight by going for a drive into the mountains.
