In praise of little post offices

A couple of envelopes I’ve received in the mail over the past few days came from tiny Alaska post offices, and made me think about how different they are from the mass-producing mail-factories that are found most places now. Just look at the postmarks on them –

Nice stamps with hand-cancelled symbols of pride in their tiny communities. I think that’s really special.

In the Yukon, it would be tough to beat the Carcross post office, where you can even get your passport stamped
