Back to reality in the Yukon
November 26: I had to go into the cruise office this morning for a bit. This was the view as I pulled out of the driveway – while a contrast to the scenes of recent weeks, it’s great to be home.

I took Cathy’s car, which our house-sitter has been driving while we were away. Maybe tomorrow I’ll dig Subie out and get to work on the driveway 🙂

Ah, back to empty highways with no tolls!

Jazz was being de-iced for its flight back to Vancouver as I went by, so I had to pull in for a minute or two.

I know that’s it’s popular to say that “reality sucks” when you get home from a holiday, but we know that ours doesn’t. We did meet some folks over the past 3 weeks whose reality, through no fault of their own, does suck. One example – I met an elderly black woman on the tender back to the ship at Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. She made a comment that I find very sad – something to the effect of “it’s all very good now with everyone being nice to each other, but in a few days we’ll be back home and back to normal.” In our world, everyone being nice to each other is the norm. I hope that’s the case for you all as well.
