How to fly to Vancouver

Vancouver isn’t all that far way by air – a few minutes over 2 hours, depending on which plane you’re flying in. But the cost makes it seem a whole lot further.

I’d like to go down for a one-day meeting on January 29th, but here’s today’s air-fare silliness (these fares are for Cathy and I in Economy class, including all taxes, flying down Friday evening and back Sunday morning): Air North: $1,030.42 Air Canada: $998.72 Aeroplan points: 108,000 points PLUS $961.38 (!!!!!!!)

Thanks in particular to Aeroplan for amusing me this morning. I won’t be going to the meeting, though 🙁

As a comparison, once we get to Vancouver, we could continue on to Varadero, Cuba (8 hours flying time each way) for another $1,477 on WestJet.
