Funeral procession for Marty Dobbin, Yukon Fire Marshal
A funeral was held in Whitehorse yesterday for Marty Dobbin, the Yukon’s Fire Marshal. It began with the air and land procession seen in the photos below. I didn’t know him, but the obituary at the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs site says:
“Marty was the backbone of the Volunteer Fire Service in the Yukon,” said Fire Chief Jim Regimbal, President of the Association of Yukon Fire Chiefs.”“Seventeen Volunteer Fire Departments reported directly to his office and he was a key figure in ensuring the ongoing protection of the public from the dangers of structural fires.” Chief Regimbal noted that the loss of the Fire Marshal will leave a considerable void in the Yukon’s Fire Service.
The procession was led by 4 aircraft from the air tanker base, the birddog and 3 Firecats.
