Back to reality – from cruises to politics

It’s great to be back home, but it’s only for a few days, and am I busy! The focus since I got home has been to get my cruise review/album posted, and that’s now up at my YourAlaskaCruise.com site (though it’s one of those big projects that I’ll be tinkering with for weeks). I was in major Photography Mode on this trip, and it took a while to sort through the 1,900 pictures I shot, whittling it down to under 150 for the Web.

Today I have another meeting to get Carcross’ first-ever wholly-elected advisory council in place. If we can get all our ducks lined up properly, we’ll have a referendum in 3 weeks or so to approve the process, and if that’s approved the election will be on October 19th, with the other local elections in the Yukon. There is a whole lot happening in Carcross now and in the near future, and this council is crucial to ensuring that the residents get what they want and need (yes, I’ll be running in the election).

My first long bus tour (12 days) of the year starts in Skagway on Sunday, and I just haven’t got time to leave town again. Oh well, it’s with a church group from Kansas that I always enjoy travelling with, and I have time to write and build Web sites at night. Cathy can handle the flower-planting, and most other stuff will just have to wait!
