A quick look at Bernkastel, and cruising the Mosel

I enjoyed my walk around Bernkastel on Tuesday night but was looking foward to seeing it in the daylight too. The medieval center of town is wonderful.

Some of the buildings have quite a tilt to them, especially this skinny one.

Today was a day of funny signs, starting the the Bathtub Restaurant 🙂

Right behind the town centre, this wine cellar was built into the hillside under the vineyard.

Bernkastel isn’t large, but there’s a lot to see.

Mail and other deliveries begin the day as in many towns.

Just after 11:00am, we went to this chateau for a wine tasting – great way to start the day 🙂

The vinter did an excellent presentation on the evolution of his company (Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler), and of the wine industry in the region.

It was time to get a bit of laundry done, and the little laundry on the ship made that easy.

Another very steep vineyard. This was a particularly pleasant day of cruising. Anyone who cruises the Rhine River without adding the Mosel is really missing out on a very special place.

That looks like a pretty good posting for a police officer.

That was a very quick look at an excellent day – the 354 photos in the day’s folder will provide more stories when time permits.
