A kitchen renovation begins
I actually enjoy the creative process of house renovations, and this morning started a complete rebuild of the kitchen in one of our rental properties.
From this angle it doesn’t look like a bad kitchen, but it’s quite worn out. This is the only part of the house that we didn’t get to during our rebuild when we lived in it.
From the other side, though, it’s a pretty unfriendly space, not at all conducive to visiting with the cook during meal preparation.
Although I’ll be putting a new bar and lower cabinets (a honey oak) in, doesn’t it look better to have that light-blocking slab removed?
We didn’t like having the dishwasher as the first thing you see when you walk in the front door, so that’s being moved to the space between the stove and sink. Putting it back together will be a fairly slow process, but the place is empty until after Christmas so I can tinker with it at my leisure now and not get stressed out by it. The next step is assembling all the “k-d” cabinets.
