Flying over the mountains to the prairies

Yesterday morning, Cathy and I boarded an Air North Boeing 737 for a flight to Calgary. It was a beautiful day to spend a couple of hours over the mountains! The window beside me was distorted, but by risking a neck dislocation I got a few photos through the next window back 🙂

Takeoff at 10:00, with the Yukon River beside us.

Two minutes later I got a good look at Mary Lake, the subdivision we live in.

In the foreground is White Mountain, with the Alaska Highway cutting through the tight valley north of it. This photo was shot at 10:08.

At 10:15 we were past Teslin, over Teslin Lake. The Dawson Peaks are in the foreground.

Southwest of Watson Lake at 10:23.

I’d sure like to know what created that strange plateau (seen at 10:24).

Over the heart of the Northern Rocky Mountains at 10:39.

Over the northernmost subdivisions of Calgary at 12:09.

There was a north wind so we took a long detour to get the correct runway, giving me this excellent view of downtown Calgary.
