Property maintenance – the fun and the not-so-much
With 4 properties to manage now, there’s always something to do – if I had a “real job we’d be in trouble. This morning I was up to Carcross to clean the snow off the cabin roof for the first time this winter. While local snow enthusiasts might be bummed about having little snow, you’ll hear no complaints from me.
As you’ll see by the first photo below, a roof rake makes getting the snow off a metal roof very easy – you learn quickly not to stand too close! When the cabin is heated it actually sheds snow fairly well without assistance. The science of designing snow-shedding roofs is quite interesting – a mistake can be very expensive.
After a lunch meeting to discuss renovations on our city suite, I spent the afternoon filling hundreds and hundreds of nail and staple holes at the suite prior to painting, and starting to strip the vinyl off the kitchen and entry floors. Clearing the roof was much more fun 🙂
