Hunting season in the Yukon
Fall is a rather exciting time of year in the Yukon. Yes, I do whine about Winter coming, but as long as I don’t think about what comes next it’s great.
One of the distinctive signs that it’s hunting season is the number of private jets sitting on the ramp at YXY. Below you see this morning’s lineup – N401NK, a Canadair CL600 from Seattle; N885M, a Hawker 800XP from Massachusetts (I saw it here for hunting season 1996 too); and XB-INI, a Beechjet 400A from Mexico.
I’m not nearly finished with the Fall colours yet – the lineup below at the Beringia Centre kept me amused for a few minutes after I left the jets
“Back at the ranch”, the only big-game activity that’s taken place has been the mounting of a couple of moose antlers on the new gate and the meat-smoker shed. Oh well, in a few hours I’m driving to Telegraph Creek again, so there’s a pretty good chance that I’ll at least see some big game up close.
