Flying from Regina back to the Yukon
After a very eventful few days, we’re back home in Whitehorse. I headed back to work last night, 15 minutes after arriving home, Cathy’s back at it in a few minutes. Ah, reality…..
We had a lazy morning in Regina on Wednesday, so did a bit of touristing, over to the Parliament Buildings and just generally exploring the city. The historic architecture of Regina is wonderful – homes in particular. It’s the sort of town that I wish I could spend a few summer days in, taking pictures of buildings.
Descending into Calgary offered a great view of Airdrie, where my daughter and grand-daughters live.
We rented a car from Enterprise, and as always got great service. When the clerk took us out to our free-upgrade Mitsubishi Galant, Cathy asked if we could have the silver Volvo S40 beside it, and he obliged. What a sweet little car that is – to the point that we ended up at the Volvo dealer pricing out an XC70 wagon 🙂
The next stop was the Coast Plaza Hotel, which though not nearly as convenient as the Delta we stayed at southbound, was much nicer (and much cheaper). We then drove out to Airdrie to see the patch of dirt that will some day soon be covered by my daughter’s new house – very exciting stuff for her!
The view from our hotel room yesterday morning (with about 250mm of zoom). The Husky Tower is to the left (it’s actually been called the Calgary Tower for the past few decades but some of us never quite catch up).
Leaving Calgary…
Heading northwest from Edmonton after a half-hour stop there.
Over the oil and gas country of northern Alberta, with seismic lines and wells everywhere.
Back in the Yukon, looking south over Tagish Lake as we descend into Whitehorse.
A final mountain view before we descended into a snow shower. It feels great to be back home! There’s no resting up, though – I was out to the cruise office to give a presentation last night, and will be heading back there shortly.
