Abandoned ammunition?

I was on the Port of San Diego Web site today to read about their new cruise terminal. I got side-tracked by the Harbor Police blotter, and was more than a little surprised to see week after week, multiple “incidents of abandoned ammunition” at the San Diego airport. Huh??? The only thing I can figure is that there are people who casually carry ammunition in their pockets, and when they get to the airport remember “darn, I can’t take this stuff in there!” so leave it in the bathroom or whatever.

When Cathy and I were in Nassau last month, she saw/heard a dispute between a passenger on our ship and the security team. He had taken ammunition off the ship (in his backpack?) and it got discovered coming back on (why wasn’t it found coming onto the ship at Miami?). He argued that he’s “DEA” and is allowed to do that. Too freakin’ weird.
